To find the true meaning of serendipitous fate is to know Katydid Something well.

Katy is the key to all that has evolved here in Wichi, SL.  Katydid Something, a clever little name, is the person that graciously and flawlessly delivers you a concert in Wichi twice a week.

When we came to Wichi, in October, 2006, Apple and I settled on a parcel of land in which to call 'home'. Katy, one of our new friends in 'Second Life' was one of our first visitors to the new land. After a flow of several visitors, we decided to make our home into a public art gallery. When she saw what we were doing in Wichi, on prime waterfront property, Katy quickly bought the available land in Wichi and proposed we form a group to make something wonderful of it.

With Apple's meticulous artistic building skills and social suave, and Katy's savvy land acquisitions, professional manners and can-do approach to 'Second Life', an alliance was made and the Wichi Riverwalk formed as RWW Associates. Katy sold a parcel of the land in Wichi to our friend, Gilly Gully. This enabled Gilly to open the first underwater bookstore (that we know of)  in 'Second Life', the 'Gilly Pad'.

From there, Mia Kitchensink and Gunnar Bekkers rented shops in Wichi, giving a home to The Kitchensink Chronicles and Digital Reef Industrial Design. Once the parties were happening regularly, Chester Cournoyer naturally acquired the dual role of host and protagonist.

When we promoted our first live music event featuring jazz piano and poetry reading by Sumtra Oh, everything came together. With a stage, stream and schedule of great performers quickly lining up, Katydid Something became the main contact for musicians and maintains the live music schedule for Molaskey's.  When Apple built the Molaskeys-Pub.com website, Katy added the schedule to the site, which she dutifully maintains every week.

The concerts are great fun. The musicians love playing at Molaskeys because they feel at home with us. We draw a great crowd and everyone has a great time.

Thanks Katydid. It is greatly appreciated. :)

In Other News...

For months, the virtual backgammon and chess boards at Molaskey's Pub have been encouraging a little friendly competition among patrons and staff. Now, for the first time, Molaskey's Pub will be organizing a 'Chess and Backgammon Championship', awarding weekly prizes to the reigning champion.

Wednesdays from 8pm SLT to 10pm SLT, host Gilly Gully will officiate 'Best - Two Out Of Three' sets of chess and/or backgammon at Molaskey's Pub. Two players will register with Gilly and compete against each other for three rounds of either chess or backgammon. The player winning two out of three of the games wins L$500. There is no cost to register for the game, just be sure to tip your game host and pub.
